Sidley is advising RGA in a US$4.1 billion reinsurance transaction to acquire a long-term care (LTC) block and a structured settlements block from John Hancock, a subsidiary of Manulife.
The blocks comprise US$1.9 billion in LTC liabilities and US$2.2 billion in structured settlement liabilities. Publicly traded RGA is a leading global life and health reinsurer. Manulife is a leading international financial services group.
The transaction is one of the few LTC reinsurance trades in recent years, and represents Sidley’s ability to guide clients in their most complex and significant insurance industry transactions.
