The Political Asylum and Immigrants’ Rights Project provides legal services to asylum-seeking immigrants and refugees fleeing persecution abroad. The project addresses other immigration matters, including representation of victims of domestic violence and other crimes seeking relief under the Violence Against Women Act and U nonimmigrant status; adjustments to lawful permanent resident status for asylees and refugees; and representation of immigrant minors in Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases.
Sidley partners with several legal departments of our corporate clients to deliver pro bono legal services. One of our longest-standing partnerships is with our client Exelon. With the assistance of the National Immigrant Justice Center, together we host quarterly clinics to help asylees and refugees obtain lawful permanent resident status and bring family members to the United States.
