GLENN NASH is a leader of the firm’s global Technology and Life Sciences Transactions practice and the Technology Industry group, and serves on the Steering Committee of the firm’s AI Working Group. He has deep experience in the AI, software, data, internet, media, e-commerce, software, hardware, and information technology industries.
Glenn’s practice focuses on intellectual property and strategic business matters, and providing counseling to companies establishing and expanding their products, business and operations domestically and internationally. He handles complex business transactions, including acquisitions, technology, content and intellectual property transactions, joint ventures and other strategic collaborations and commercial transactions, domestically and internationally, for both established and emerging growth companies.
Glenn is routinely recognized as a leader in the IT field. He has been ranked by Chambers USA for his work in technology since 2004, most recently for California Technology (Band 1, 2024) and Nationwide Technology (2021–2024). A client in the 2024 edition of Chambers hailed Glenn as “simply the best of the best when it comes to high-level, sophisticated technology transactions counsel.” Another source commented that he is “a consummate negotiator” and “exceptionally good at strategy” (2021). In the 2018 edition, an impressed source attested “his knowledge of relevant technology is always on the cutting edge, his advice is measured and reasonable given the commercial and other constraints facing our business, and his client skills are unmatched.” Glenn was also recommended in the 2024 edition of IAM Patent 1000, which states that he has “encyclopaedic knowledge of the IP aspects of significant transactions, offering expert opinions on licence agreements, acquisitions and partnerships.” He has also been recommended in The Legal 500 US (2014–2017) for an “outstanding business acumen and a pragmatic approach in solving issues.” Glenn was recognized as the San Francisco Technology Law “Lawyer of the Year” in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. The Daily Journal named Glenn to its 2019 list of “Top Artificial Intelligence Lawyers” in California. In 2016, The Recorder named Glenn one of the “10 Top Silicon Valley Trusted Advisors for Strategic Deals.” He is ranked in the top tier of the Media, Technology and Telecoms: Technology Transactions category as a “Leading Lawyer.” Glenn is also recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for Information Technology Law and Technology Law. Managing IP has recognized him as a “Patent Star” of 2019.
Glenn advises clients on intellectual property ownership, use, acquisition, sale, license and protection, and structures, and negotiates U.S. and cross-border transactions, such as strategic alliances, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property acquisitions and spin-outs, as well as the full array of commercial relationships, including development, hosting, services, outsourcing, manufacturing, supply, distribution, marketing, advertising, and promotional relationships. As part of his practice, he also advises companies on privacy and compliance issues, as well as counseling companies expanding overseas on international structurings, intra-company arrangements, customer facing arrangements, jurisdictional issues, and local law compliance.
