STEPHEN CHANG is a senior managing associate in Sidley’s San Francisco office and is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Disputes and Securities and Shareholder Litigation practice. At the end of 2018, Stephen rejoined Sidley after serving as a law clerk for the honorable Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Prior to joining Sidley, Stephen participated in Sidley’s summer associate program in 2015. While in law school, he served as a law clerk for the criminal division of the United States Attorney’s Office in San Francisco and was a judicial extern to the Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before attending law school, he worked as a grade 6-9 social studies and Mandarin teacher at Paauilo Elementary & Intermediate School.
Stephen earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Asian American Law Journal and articles editor of the California Law Review. He received an M.A.T. in teaching and social studies from the Chaminade University of Honolulu School of Education. Stephen graduated with a B.S. in business administration and a B.A. in history from the University of California, Berkeley where he was a Regent’s and Chancellor’s Scholar.
Stephen serves as associate deputy San Francisco chair, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and was named a 2022 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder.
