Sidley is pleased to announce its selection of three rising leaders to participate in the premier professional development programs of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). As a law firm member of LCLD, which prepares future generations of lawyers for the highest positions of leadership, Sidley is sponsoring partner David Silva as a 2024 LCLD Fellow and associates Karim Pirani and Manuel Valle as 2024 LCLD Pathfinders.
David Silva is a litigation partner in Sidley’s Dallas office. He defends companies and their directors, officers, and employees in complex criminal and civil investigations, environmental government enforcement actions, and white-collar matters. David has conducted numerous multinational investigations throughout Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Asia, and has presented findings to various federal and state agencies. He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and frequently advises clients on compliance, ethics, and data privacy matters. David currently serves as an adjunct lecturer at SMU Dedman School of Law, teaching a semester-long upper-level course on Internal Investigations.
Lawyers selected for the flagship LCLD Fellows program demonstrate leadership skills, impact in their organization and engagement within the community. Throughout his Fellows year, David will receive professional and personal development opportunities, leadership training, and relationship-building opportunities, including access to LCLD members and alumni.
Karim Pirani is a senior managing associate in Sidley’s Chicago office and is a member of the M&A and Private Equity practices. He regularly counsels clients on executive compensation, equity compensation, and employee benefits issues in connection with corporate transactions. Beyond his primary practice, Karim maintains an active pro bono practice and was recognized as the 2019 Rookie of the Year by the National Immigrant Justice Center for his work to help asylees and refugees obtain lawful permanent resident status and bring family members to the United States.
Manuel Valle is a senior managing associate in Sidley’s Washington, D.C., office and is a member of the Regulatory Litigation practice. He represents clients in a broad range of appeals, regulatory disputes, complex commercial litigation, and government enforcement actions. Manuel has experience representing clients at each level of the federal judiciary, as well as before federal administrative agencies and in state courts. Before joining Sidley, Manuel served as a law clerk for Associate Justice Clarence Thomas of the United States Supreme Court during October Term 2021.
As 2024 LCLD Pathfinders, Karim and Manuel will receive practical tools for developing and leveraging internal professional networks, foundational leadership skills, and career path strategies through online experiential learning, conversations with LCLD alumni, peer networking, and other experiences throughout the year.
