With more than 300 lawyers located in ten offices in Asia-Pacific and Europe, as well as lawyers who regularly work on Latin American projects, our insurance industry practice is well-equipped to handle international arbitrations, litigation and regulatory matters.
Sidley’s London-based Insurance Disputes practice advises on English law issues relating to insurance disputes, including reinsurance, product liability, pharmaceuticals, financial products, professional indemnity, D&O, structured contracts, energy and offshore, and the run-off market. The London-based practice group has experience litigating in the High Court and with all forms of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution procedures. In addition, our London-based lawyers have acted on multiple Bermuda Form arbitrations on behalf of major Bermuda insurers. The team also has particular experience in disputes arising from products created by the convergence of the insurance industry and capital markets, such as industry loss warranty products.
In recent years, we have advised insurers on EEC legal issues and international trade disputes, have handled class action litigation in the U.S. for non-U.S. insurers and provided legal advice to a number of well-known international insurers, reinsurers and brokers, as well as lenders and investment banks who conduct business in the insurance sector.
