WILLIAM J. SOULE advises and represents clients in connection with the organization and operation of private funds, along with related legal, regulatory, structuring, governance and transactional matters. William’s fund formation experience spans a range of strategies, geographies and liquidity structures, including hedge funds, private equity funds, hybrid funds and credit funds, with an emphasis on private credit funds and private funds pursuing esoteric strategies.
Between August 2021 and August 2022, William was corporate counsel for Castlelake, L.P., where he managed the formation of a unique private credit fund structure and led several fundraising closings for industry-specific and other closed-end funds.
William graduated from The University of Chicago Law School in 2018, where he was the executive editor of the University of Chicago Legal Forum. In 2015 William graduated summa cum laude from Bethany Lutheran College with B.A. degrees in Finance and Mathematics.
Prior to joining Sidley, William was a Graduate Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) fellow at BPI (Business and Professional People for the Public Interest).
William also served as a member of Bethany Lutheran College’s Board of Regents between August 2018 and June 2022.
