KATIE LAVOY regularly advises on matters of corporate governance, SEC disclosure requirements, and executive compensation. Her practice includes board and committee governance, leadership and policies, composition and structure, best practices and fiduciary duties, board evaluations, shareholder engagement, executive and director compensation, and disclosure and compliance with corporate and securities laws, regulations and listing rules, including “beyond compliance” disclosure in proxy statements and other regulatory documents. She is also experienced in building international compliance programs and advising on risk management.
Prior to joining Sidley, Katie served as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of a publicly traded maritime company that is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States. Katie also served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of an international electric vehicle manufacturer. Katie began her legal practice as a litigation attorney at another U.S. based international law firm where she focused on commercial litigation and patent litigation.
Katie holds an Executive MBA degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and graduated cum laude from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. She received an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Katie is a frequent speaker on topics related to risk, compliance, international law, and finance for lawyers.
