SHIGEYUKI ITO is a senior managing associate at Sidley Austin Foreign Law Joint Enterprise. His practice focuses on cross-border project finance, general finance, and other corporate transactions. Shige has represented Japanese ECA and commercial lenders on project financing of overseas energy projects, and has worked with Japanese sponsors and other multinational corporates on cross-border energy and general financing transactions. He also has experience as in-house counsel (secondment) at a major Japanese power generation company.
Prior to joining Sidley, Shige worked for international law firms in Tokyo and New York. Shige is also familiar with legal systems in various frontier countries, having worked for the United Nations on governance, rule of law, security, and anticorruption-related legal reforms in countries such as Afghanistan, Lao PDR, and Somalia.
Shige is a native English and Japanese speaker.
