ANDREW FRIEDMAN advises registered open-end funds and closed-end funds, including ETFs and interval funds, in connection with the launch and ongoing representation of the funds and the application of the rules and regulations of the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Andrew focuses on advising clients on the formation and operation of interval funds, including providing guidance on the structuring of complex alternative investments in interval fund wrappers, and represents funds in special circumstances, including the conversion of non-registered funds to registered funds. Andrew also consults on Investment Company Act status questions for various types of enterprises and securities product offerings.
Prior to joining Sidley, Andrew practiced at another major law firm where he worked primarily in the firm’s investment management practice and capital markets practice, with a focus on open-end and closed-end fund formation, open-end fund reorganizations and M&A, adviser acquisitions, general 1940 Act practice, 1933 Act filings and 1934 Act filings.
While attending the Rutgers Law School, Andrew was a staff member for the Rutgers Law Record. He graduated from Rutgers with honors, including magna cum laude and Order of the Coif.
