Sidley represented International Paper Co. (IP), a global provider of renewable fiber-based packaging and pulp products, as U.S. antitrust counsel in connection with its US$7.2 billion acquisition of DS Smith PLC, a UK-based packaging provider. Following regulatory reviews and approvals, this significant transaction was completed on January 31, 2025, establishing a new global leader in sustainable packaging and has resulted in a unique geographic footprint and an unparalleled suite of sustainable packaging products and services, positioning the combined entity at the forefront of the industry.
