On May 10, 2023, a Sidley pro bono team concluded a lengthy and intensive pro bono effort with the entry of a final order of dissolution in New York State Court for Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation.
RIOULT was an 11,000 square-foot space located in the Astoria neighborhood of New York City and included five state-of-the-art studios, one that converted into a 100-plus seat black box theater and a second that doubled as public space, along with a school for the community that offered dance classes for children and teens; dance and fitness classes for adults; and a place for professional dancers to train, rehearse, and perform. After opening in early 2019 and enjoying a successful first year, RIOULT fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic and was forced to cease operations in 2021.
The Sidley team was led by Restructuring partner William Curtin of the New York office and included counsel Andrew Propps and managing associate Michael Sabino, also of the New York office.
