Clearlake Capital Group, L.P.’s acquisition of Chelsea Football Club has been named “Private Equity Deal of the Year” at the IFLR Europe Awards 2023. The annual awards celebrate the region’s most innovative cross-border work and those behind it.
Sidley represented Clearlake in the landmark acquisition of the UK Premier League’s Chelsea Football Club and related affiliates. The deal, which was announced May 9, 2022, was reported to be one of the most significant sports deals in history.
The Sidley team was led by Mehdi Khodadad and Adam Runcorn.
