On May 15, Sidley partner Michael Borden will deliver a keynote address on “Regulatory Headwinds from the U.S. on Chinese Biotech Companies” at the DJSeedin 2024 Innovation Partnering Conference (DJS) in Shanghai, China. Michael, who leads Sidley’s Government Strategies practice, will discuss the BIOSECURE Act ─ bipartisan legislation currently moving through the U.S. House and Senate. If passed into law, the Act would limit the ability of U.S. life sciences companies to contract with biotechnology companies that have ties to the Chinese government or other designated foreign governments. Following the keynote, Michael will also participate in a panel on “Challenges and Opportunities for Cross-border Cooperation in the New Situation.”
Founded in 2021 by leading industry business intelligence provider PharmaDJ and asset transaction platform bioSeedin, the DJS Conference is one of the biggest partnering events in China. It brings together approximately 1000 thought leaders from leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, investors, and partners to showcase novel technologies, discuss industry challenges, and foster innovation.
