- Comisión Federal de Electricidad, Mexico’s state power utility (one of the largest electric utilities in Latin America), on a variety of matters in support of recent Mexican energy industry modernization efforts and transactions related to the procurement of natural gas from the U.S. to fuel Mexico’s transition to cleaner, cheaper gas-fired electric generation.
- Facebook, Inc. in satellite projects involving the development, procurement, construction, launching and equity financing of satellites or satellite transponder capacity, and the development and construction of ground stations, gateways and other infrastructure, all in connection with Facebook’s high-profile initiative to bring Internet connectivity to underserved populations in Africa and Asia through the development of communications infrastructure. This initiative and related projects are the subject of worldwide media coverage, including a front-cover Time magazine article.
- A Brazilian petrochemical company in a long-term off-take contract for the supply of ethane for export.
- Citigroup Energy Inc. in the negotiation and structuring of 14-year wind energy, renewable energy credit and capacity product purchases ending in 2029 for the South Plains II (SunEdison and Starwood), Shannon Wind (Starwood and Alterra Power) and Mariah del Norte (First Reserve) project developments.
- The Shannon Wind transaction involved the resale of purchased renewable power to Facebook in a transaction designed to reduce the risk to Facebook in comparison with terms and conditions often offered to corporate purchasers directly by renewable power developers
- The Mariah del Norte transaction involved a first-of-its-kind embedded transmission line project financing provided by Hannon Armstrong as a subset of the overall project financing that allowed First Reserve to reduce long-term tax equity financing needs for the project through intercreditor arrangements.
- Denham Capital Management LP and certain of its affiliates in connection with investments in the Brazilian wind energy sector, including project acquisition and development and bidding of projects into Brazilian renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA) auctions.
- Emgasud S.A. in the development of wind and solar projects in Argentina, including wind turbine and solar panel procurement. The first project to become commercial, Rawson Wind Farm, is the largest of its kind in Argentina.
- MAP Royalty in connection with the sale of the development rights and a PPA related to a 200 MW wind-generating facility in South Texas.
- Mercuria Energy Group in its joint venture and associated gas supply arrangements with Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) to supply U.S. natural gas for import into Mexico.
- Morgan Stanley Capital Group Inc. in connection with a structured off-take of environmental products and energy from a wind farm in Oklahoma that was on-sold to a regulated utility in Florida using an innovative structure that won the 2015 Platts Global Energy Awards “Financial Deal of the Year.” The structure allows the Florida utility to receive the full benefit of both current and future environmental products from the wind farm while also receiving a fixed amount of energy.
- Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in connection with two separate projects: an acquisition of a 50 percent interest in the 164 MW Bii Stinu wind farm in Oaxaca, Mexico, and a 50 percent interest in the approximately 160 MW Santo Domingo wind farm in Santo Domingo Ingenio, both projects in construction with separate project financings led by Banco Santander.
- Mitsui & Co., Ltd. as co-sponsor of the Java-1 IPP in Indonesia, a proposed 1,600 MW gas-fired power project in West Java.
- The Mongolian Ministry of Transportation and Mongolian Railway State-Owned Shareholding Company as lead sponsor on the development, construction and financing of a vast 1,800 km freight rail network anticipated to cost US$7 billion and intended as the principal transport for Mongolia’s rich mineral resources to international markets. This project has been featured in publications including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, Time and Newsweek, among others.
- Partners Group in connection with its investment in the under-development of Seabras-1, the first direct subsea fiber optic cable between New York and São Paulo. The project will cost approximately US$500 million to build, and Partners Group has agreed to provide all of the equity for the project.
- Sunbury Generation as co-sponsor of the 1,124 MW Hummel Station power generating project, one of the largest coal-to-natural-gas power plant conversion projects in the U.S.
- Zachry American Infrastructure as joint venturer in the formation of ZTR-56 L.P., a joint venture between Zachry American Infrastructure and several pension funds, for the development of Texas State Road 135 Segments 5 and 6.
- ZTR 56 L.P., a joint venture of Australian Funds and Zachry American Infrastructure, in connection with the equity and debt financing of State Highway 130, a portion of the Trans-Texas Corridor.
- Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc., a provider of high-speed wireless mobile broadband, Internet, local, long-distance and advanced broadband solutions for businesses and consumers in Alaska, in its $900 million agreement with General Communications, Inc. to form The Alaska Wireless Network, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company that holds and operates both companies’ wireless facilities.
