JESSICA LOWE's practice focuses on advising fund managers on the structuring, marketing, fundraising, and operation of their investment funds, with an emphasis on private equity, credit, real estate, and venture capital. In addition to working closely with clients on their fund formations, co-investment platforms, continuation funds, separately managed accounts, and other capital raising platforms, Jessica advises clients on their carried interest schemes and associated UK and European regulatory matters, including ESG-related matters.
Jessica also has broad experience advising prominent institutional investors, including state pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, in connection with their investments in private investment funds. She advises on the full range of complex secondary transactions, including strip sales and continuation funds. Jessica has broad expertise across fund jurisdictions, including the UK, Luxembourg, and the Channel Islands.
Prior to joining Sidley, Jessica practiced in the London office of an international law firm. During this time, she spent close to a year on secondment to a leading private equity firm headquartered in Boston, where she was responsible for handling legal matters relating to the firm’s capital raising activities, including the raising of a US$17 billion private equity fund. Jessica is a former board member of the Queens Crescent Community Association (QCCA) in North London.
Jessica received her LLB in Law with first-class honours from the Queen Mary University School of Law. While in law school, she supported pro bono cases at the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre and Barnet Law Service and served as the president of the Queen Mary Badminton Club and the vice-president of the Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS) at Queen Mary and Barts and The London (QMBL). Jessica additionally received the Old Square Chambers Prize for achieving the highest grade in Labour Law and won the Field Fisher Waterhouse Prize for a paper she wrote about legal issues affecting startups and entrepreneurs in the UK and overseas.
