For over 40 years, Sidley’s registered funds practice has been recognized for both for its role in the development of new registered investment company products as well as its representation of traditional registered funds. Sidley’s fund clients benefit uniquely from the interaction among multiple practice areas within the firm—including the alternative funds, derivatives, tax, capital markets, structured finance, securities regulatory and enforcement practice groups.
Our work has included equity and fixed income funds, alternative investment funds, money market funds, closed-end funds, target date funds, exchange-traded funds (“ETFs”), leveraged fund vehicles, hybrid funds, unit investment trusts (“UITs”) and business development companies (“BDCs”).
In terms of our overall investment management practice, Sidley has a premier, global practice in structuring and advising investment funds and advisers. The Investment Funds Practice group serves virtually every type of investment fund and investment manager as well as many other market participants.
Regulatory initiatives impacting the investment management industry in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America, and the increased levels of activity by regulatory authorities in those jurisdictions continue to be a focus of Sidley’s internationally recognized Investment Funds Practice group.
More specifically, in the United States, we have been counseling clients regarding the significance of new global regulations, including the Dodd-Frank Act and related SEC, CFTC and state regulations, as well as more recently proposed regulations relating to liquidity and derivatives.
“Sources highlight that the team provides ‘excellent advice and service on all fronts. They have impressive depth and breadth of experience.’”
