Biography

KATELIN EVERSON focuses her practice on commercial litigation and disputes.

Prior to joining Sidley, Katelin worked as a policy advisor to a former Canadian Prime Minister. 

Katelin received her J.D. from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, where she graduated as the Gerald W. Schwartz Bronze Medalist, and received the Leonard Feigman, Q.C. Prize in Evidence Law. 

While attending the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Rotman School of Management, Katelin was an assistant editor on the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review

Experience

Representative Matters

  • Universal Music Group in a federal defamation lawsuit filed by recording artist Drake in the Southern District of New York. The court granted Sidley’s motion to dismiss, finding that lyrics in Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” could not reasonably be interpreted as factual statements and were therefore not defamatory as a matter of law.
