
Biography
GRANT ELLIS focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, and asset purchases as well as general corporate matters. His experience spans the aviation, energy, technology, and aerospace and defense industries and includes representation of major airlines in complex business transactions. Grant’s skillset includes advising major international and domestic airlines and industry participants on a wide array of commercial transactions for various functions of the aviation and airline business, including fleet, supply chain, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, operations, regional matters, fuel, and other business-process outsourcing transactions. Grant has also assisted multiple airlines in the purchase of and investment in the manufacturing of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and electric regional aircraft.
Grant’s work has earned him recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America® for Mergers and Acquisitions Law (2026).
Grant obtained his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. He also graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor of science in criminal justice and political science.
Experience
Representative Matters
- Represented United Airlines Ventures in its investment in electric aircraft startup Heart Aerospace.
- Represented United Airlines in an agreement with JSX to give future and current students of the United Aviate Academy (UAA), United’s wholly-owned flight school, the opportunity to pursue careers at JSX.
- Represented United Airlines in connection with a conditional aircraft purchase agreement with Archer Aviation.
- Represented Horizon Acquisition Corporation II in its proposed US$3.1 billion business combination with Epic Aero, Inc., a subscription-based private aviation company operating Flexjet and other brands.
- Assisted United Airlines in its order of 110 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft, including 50 Boeing 787-9s and 60 Airbus A321neos, along with new options to purchase up to 50 more Boeing 787s and an additional 40 A321neo aircraft at the end of the decade.
- Assisted United Airlines in its historic agreement to purchase 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with options to purchase 100 more. At the time this order was the largest by a U.S. carrier in commercial aviation history.
- Assisted United Airlines with its purchase of 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
- Reali, a real estate technology company transforming home-buying and selling, in the close of its US$250 million Series B financing led by Zeev Ventures with participation from Akkadian Ventures, Signia Ventures, Group 11, and others.
- Represented a major airline in the sale of more than 50 vintage aircraft to an air carrier, as well as the entry into equity investment documentation and several long-term commercial arrangements.
- OMERS Private Equity (sale of interest in Forefront Dermatology). Represented OMERS Private Equity in its agreement to sell its interest in Forefront Dermatology to global private markets firm Partners Group.
