Sidley is representing Ryan Specialty (NYSE: RYAN), a specialty insurance provider, wholesale broker, and managing underwriter, in its US$525 million acquisition of Velocity Risk Underwriters, LLC. Velocity is a managing general underwriter focused on providing insurance for named storms, earthquakes, tornadoes, and hail events for middle market and small-to-midsize commercial businesses, primarily across Southeastern states. This acquisition will enhance Ryan Specialty’s property catastrophe portfolio and is expected to improve its ability to serve wholesale clients by integrating Velocity’s portfolio management, data analytics, and technology capabilities.
