Sidley partner Doug Axel has been shortlisted by Chambers for its "White-Collar Lawyer of the Year" award, as a part of the Chambers USA Awards 2022. The annual program — which will take place virtually on May 26, 2022 — honors the work of law firms and individuals across the United States, including “outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service.”
Doug, who is highly ranked in Chambers USA, is co-leader of Sidley's global White Collar: Government Litigation and Investigations practice. A former federal prosecutor, Doug focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, government enforcement matters, internal investigations, and commercial litigation and disputes. In the 2021 edition of Chambers USA, clients lauded him as, “incredibly knowledgeable” and “calm under pressure.” Others described him as "an excellent collaborator" and having “an even demeanor and excellent judgment.” Doug has notable experience in a wide range of white collar and government enforcement matters, including those involving the False Claims Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, securities fraud, insider trading, consumer protection, healthcare enforcement, and antitrust.
