Chicago – Sidley is pleased to announce that Matthew Devine, Office Executive Partner of the Chicago office of White & Case, and Brienne Letourneau have joined Sidley’s Litigation practice as partners in the Chicago office. They were both partners in the Global Commercial Litigation practice at White & Case.
Mr. Devine has extensive first-chair experience leading trial teams in state and federal courts around the country, as well as private arbitrations. He represents clients in high-stakes commercial disputes posing reputational risk to clients in the media spotlight. Mr. Devine’s practice focuses on heavily litigated aspects of business law, particularly class action defense, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, shareholder derivative actions and high stakes “mass raid” cases, as well as representing corporate clients in responding to inquiries and subpoenas from government regulators. He also leads internal investigations for corporate clients.
Ms. Letourneau has substantial experience representing clients in a variety of disputes, including class action defense, fiduciary litigation, contract disputes, business torts, and professional liability. She has represented a wide array of public and private companies and has broad experience representing clients as plaintiffs and defendants before state and federal courts and arbitral tribunals throughout the U.S. Additionally, Ms. Letourneau has successfully advised and defended clients in connection with government subpoenas and investigative demands.
“Matt and Brienne are strategic litigators with outstanding reputations that complement our thoughtful growth in advising clients in key industries,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Sidley’s Management Committee Chair. “We continue to grow our litigation practice with the recent additions of outstanding litigators like Lisa Miller, Nima Mohebi, Aryeh Kaplan, Randi Singer, and Jon Dean. We are reinforcing Sidley’s position as one of the premiere litigation practices by growing organically and taking advantage of our strong financial position to recruit lateral talent.”
“Matt and Brienne have significant class action and trade secret experience, among other things,” said Bruce Braun, global co-leader of the Litigation Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. “Their ability to advise at every phase of litigation will benefit clients across industries as they collaborate with partners in our offices around the world.”
