| Project Description | Eu’Genia Shea LLC is supply chain company helping female Shea cooperatives to improve their income and living conditions. The company purchases Shea nuts and further processes it into all natural premium Shea butter moisturizers. Eu’Genia Shea partners with 150 rural female cooperatives in the Northern part of Ghana and offers these women fair prices for their Shea produce, which is 20% higher than the market price. They have also established an engagement where they buy all the produce from the Shea collectors during harvest seasons to enable them to always have income at hand to provide for their families (which is an essential need for these collectors). In addition, they train and empower the female collectors in areas such as financial literacy and healthcare. Women who work in their facilities are also offered good wages, all year round employment and the company also donates 15% of their profit back to the workers in the form of an education fund. The enterprise supports over 175 women in rural northern Ghana as well as their families and aims to expand trade to Europe, India and the Middle East, as it will help improve the economic status of Shea pickers in West Africa through innovative and sustainable employment.
