Sidley advised Excelsior Energy Capital (Excelsior), a leading independent North American renewable energy investor, in connection with the launch of Excelsior Renewable Energy Investment Fund II, LP (ERE II). Excelsior’s second fund primarily focuses on post-development wind, solar, and energy storage and related assets across the United States and Canada. Additionally, ERE II invests in select non-core energy transition infrastructure, including green hydrogen and carbon capture and sequestration, among others. ERE II held its final close on March 31, 2025, with capital commitments of just over US$1 billion.
The Sidley team was led by Ellen Murphy and partner Patrick Michel and included Victoria Anglin and Tamara Soleymani (Investment Funds); Leonard Ng and Arash Dashtgard (Financial Institutions); John Schaff (Energy); Christian Pilhofer (Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation); Roderic Pagel (Tax); and Takeshi Funaki (M&A).
