ELLEN MURPHY advises alternative investment managers on a broad array of transactions and investment structures, including hedge funds, private equity funds, commodity pools, funds-of-funds, single investor funds, separately managed accounts, and other privately-offered vehicles. Ellen counsels clients on a wide range of issues relating to their asset management businesses, including governance, organizational structure, internal operations, fundraising, regulatory and compliance (including SEC and CFTC registration and ongoing compliance), and related matters. Ellen’s clients include a diverse range of alternative asset managers, from well-known, institutional sponsors to emerging managers, pursuing a variety of investment strategies.
Ellen earned her J.D., with honors, from The University of Chicago Law School in 2017. While there, Ellen served as vice president of the Chicago Law Foundation, a student-run non-profit entity raising money for law students going into public interest careers. Prior to law school, she earned her B.A. in economics from The University of Chicago with general honors.
