KARLA UTSET focuses her practice on representing private equity sponsors and private companies in general corporate matters and complex corporate transactions, including platform and add-on acquisitions, divestitures, equity investments, leveraged buyouts and recapitalizations, and other significant transactions.
Prior to joining Sidley, Karla spent over three and a half years as a corporate and transactional associate with a leading global law firm.
Karla received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where she served as executive editor of the University of Miami Law Review and as a Dean’s Fellow for Constitutional Law.
Beyond her primary practice, Karla served as an attorney ad litem representing foster youth with Lawyers for Children America for three years and is currently a member of the Legal Services of Greater Miami Young Professionals Council.
