ROBERT JOHNSON III focuses his practice on commercial litigation and disputes.
Prior to joining Sidley, Robert worked in labor relations for The Walt Disney Company and Amtrak, where he assisted in the administration of union contracts covering thousands of clerical and service workers nationwide. While in law school, Robert externed for the Hon. Franklin U. Valderrama on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and served as a Legal Fellow for the National Urban League in Washington, D.C.
While attending The University of Chicago Law School, Robert served as a staff member for the University of Chicago Business Law Review, president of the local Black Law Students Association chapter, regional director of corporate relations for the National Black Law Students Association, and a Fellow Ambassador for the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. He also participated in the Housing Initiative Transactional Clinic and served as a law clerk for the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship.
Upon graduation, Robert received pro bono honors for completing over 250 hours of pro bono service. He also received the Ann Watson Barber Outstanding Service Award and Campus Life and Leadership Award for his contributions to the law school community.
Robert earned his B.S. in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University.
