ALEX HAKES focuses his practice on corporate restructuring and litigation, including bankruptcy court proceedings, out-of-court restructuring and workouts, and bankruptcy-related litigation.
Prior to joining Sidley, Alex served as a legal intern for the U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division, where he assisted with prosecuting money laundering crime, as well as a legal intern for the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, where he assisted with policy and bill creation. He also served as a law clerk at another global law firm in South Korea.
Alex received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center where he was the managing editor for the Journal of National Security Law and Policy. During law school, he received a “CALI Award” for obtaining the top grade in criminal justice.
Alex is fluent in Korean.
