JEN FERNANDEZ is a member of the Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy group. She focuses her practice on counseling clients in a wide range of industries with compliance advice on a variety of international trade laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), as well as the anti-boycott requirements and Information and Communications Technology and Services (ICTS) supply chain regulations administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce. She advises clients on international trade risk assessments, including in connection with investments, offerings and acquisitions. She also conducts internal investigations, handles voluntary self-disclosures, and designs and implements trade controls compliance programs.
Jen regularly represents clients in complex cross-border transactional and counseling matters that touch U.S. national security and foreign investment, including reviews before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and advising on restrictions under the Outbound Investment Security Program. She has advised clients on these issues in dozens of transactions, including conducting due diligence, analyzing potential national security issues and strategies, negotiating deal terms, representing clients in CFIUS filings and meetings with the U.S. agencies, and negotiating CFIUS mitigation arrangements.
Jen received her J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, she received her B.A. in International Affairs/International Politics from The George Washington University.
