Biography

ANNA CARNEY focuses her practice on government investigations and enforcement, litigation, and antitrust matters.

Prior to joining Sidley, she served as a special assistant to the Mayor of New York City during the COVID-19 emergency response and advised the New York City Police Department (NYPD) on public safety policy.

Anna earned her law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center where she was a member of the Federal Legislation Clinic. While at Georgetown Law, she worked as a faculty research assistant and law clerk at a global law firm in Washington, D.C.

Anna graduated magna cum laude from Pepperdine University. She obtained her B.A. in political science and received a Certificate in Conflict Management from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine School of Law.

Anna is fluent in Georgian.

Community Involvement

Membership & Activities

Anna has extensive volunteer experience teaching debate to incarcerated individuals at Rikers Island.

She is a former fellow at the New York City Urban Fellowship, as well as the Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Public Service program at New York University (NYU).

Pro Bono

Anna was a pro bono fellow at the Project on Government Oversight (POGO), a nonpartisan watchdog nonprofit, where she worked with the investigative journalism team on corruption and abuse of power issues.
