Sidley represented Ark Insurance Holdings Limited, the specialty property and casualty reinsurance and insurance subsidiary of Bermuda-based publicly traded White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd., in the formation in Bermuda of its third-party capital-backed Outrigger Re Ltd. reinsurance sidecar.
Supported by US$250 million of total investor capital, including from White Mountains, Aquiline Capital Partners, and a subsidiary of Enstar Group, Outrigger will provide collateralized reinsurance capacity on a quota share basis for a portion of Ark’s global property catastrophe portfolio.
The Sidley team was led by Michael Pinsel, and included Jen Norris, J.P. Hong, Rana Odeh (all Insurance), Laura Barzilai, and Joel Lifshitz (both Tax).
