The National Law Journal will present Sidley partner Karen A. Popp with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at The National Law Journal Legal Awards 2024 on October 24. The accolade honors her career-long accomplishments and impact on the national legal community.
Karen is a highly regarded and well-known leader in the field of white collar defense, internal investigations, crisis management, and compliance. Her practice focuses on high-stakes matters with legal, political, and public relations components. Lauded as “a pillar of the investigations community” and “a tremendous talent, advisor, and legal mind,” Karen has routinely been among the practitioners at the forefront of explosive, highly sensitive crises engagements in which clients face multiple threats and significant reputational damage. She co-founded the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA), a nonprofit organization that advances women in law. WWCDA began 25 years ago with 10 members in Washington, D.C. Today, Karen serves as its global chair of the organization, whose membership includes more than 4,000 women in 49 locations around the world. Her clients range from major corporations to nonprofit/higher education institutions, and prominent business, political, and sports figures, including a U.S. presidential cabinet member, corporate CEO, corporate general counsel, congressional candidate, senior FBI official, NFL team senior officer, NFL coach, and a Big Ten football coach.
