Two deals on which Sidley advised have been selected by the India Business Law Journal (IBLJ) as “Deals of the Year.” Each year, IBLJ scrutinizes landmark India-related transactions, looking for the most innovative, interesting, and significant legal matters to be crowned Deals of the Year. This is the seventh consecutive year in which IBLJ recognized Sidley for its work, demonstrating that Sidley is at the forefront of India deal-making.
The Sidley matters highlighted by IBLJ as “Deals of the Year”:
- AU Small Finance Bank’s Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP)
Sidley advised ICICI Securities, BofA Securities India, Morgan Stanley India, and Avendus Capital, the book-running lead managers, in connection with the QIP of equity shares of AU Small Finance Bank Limited, India’s largest small finance bank, amidst a turbulent market and despite stringent regulatory requirements. The QIP raised approximately US$250 million.

- Macrotech Developers QIP
Sidley acted as international counsel to Kotak Mahindra and Jefferies on the approximately US$430 million QIP of equity shares of Macrotech Developers Limited. This was a groundbreaking and first-of-its-kind transaction, being the first-ever purely secondary QIP of equity shares in the history of Indian capital markets.
