Project Description |
Vita is an Irish NGO working with communities in Africa to fight hunger and climate change. Their mission is to enable communities to build sustainable livelihoods in Eritrea and Ethiopia through a focus on food security, water and household energy. Vita’s well restoration projects bring relief to the villagers and the environment: in 2017 Vita fixed 320 water wells in Eritrea, delivering clean water to 200,000 people and dramatically impacting on the health and wellbeing of families; also, each community water well saves approximately 1,000 tons of carbon each year. The carbon offsets, which are referred to as carbon credits, are then sold, with the profits reinvested back into the communities through the Vita Green Impact Fund.
