| Project Description | Satemwa is a family owned Tea and Coffee Estate and in 2007 became the first Fairtrade registered tea estate in Malawi followed by UTZ and Rainforest certifications soon after. As part of Satemwa's social responsibility program they provide a number of welfare services such as clinic, education and community policing programs, which are available to both staff and their immediate dependants. Furthermore, environment is one of the issues that Satemwa focuses on, as deforestation has long reached crisis point in Southern Malawi. Along with regular tree planting on Satemwa, they have a program aimed at training workers and members of the community on the use of stoves that use less firewood. http://www.satemwa.com/index |
