HAO ZHU focuses his practice on white collar defense and investigations matters.
As part of the White Collar Defense and Investigations group, Hao has represented individuals and corporations in the United States and abroad in both civil and criminal investigative proceedings. He has represented clients in investigations and enforcement actions by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission, and various state-level law enforcement agencies.
Hao has also conducted internal reviews and investigations into allegations of misconduct throughout the United States, as well as the Asia Pacific. He also assesses anti-corruption risk associated with mergers and acquisitions transactions, and assists clients with structuring and improving their compliance programs. In addition, he also has experience counseling clients on complex eDiscovery issues, including representing clients in DOJ and Federal Trade Commission antitrust merger reviews.
Prior to joining the firm, Hao received his A.B. from Brown University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he served as managing editor for the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems. While attending law school, Hao served as a research assistant for Civil Procedure and Constitutional Law.
Prior to law school, Hao worked as a product manager at a technology start-up, a data analyst at an international development NGO, and a researcher in cognitive neuroscience.
