JUDITH SHOPHET SIDKOFF takes a multidisciplinary approach to her consumer products regulatory practice and associated complex litigation practice. She counsels manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers of consumer products in connection with regulatory matters before and involving the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Judith has extensive experience shepherding clients through regulatory reporting requirements, defending against and navigating product recalls, and responding to civil penalty investigations. She guides her clients in both preventative and remedial product safety measures, ranging from pre-market testing and developing comprehensive compliance programs, to crafting post-recall corrective action plans, helping to manage product risk at all stages of a product’s life cycle.
A seasoned litigator, Judith leverages her regulatory experience to defend companies in high-stakes consumer class actions and complex litigation disputes, including those in the wake of a product recall. She has a proven track record of securing favorable outcomes on behalf of her clients, ranging from pre-litigation negotiations and early dismissals to defeating class certification. Judith has represented individual and corporate clients in the home appliance, electronics, children’s products and toys, pet, insurance, e-commerce, fintech, and hospitality industries. She litigates in both state and federal courts all over the country, with a particular focus on matters involving unfair competition laws (UCL), consumer protection laws, and related false advertising claims; she is equally adept at handling claims involving insurance coverage, bad faith, and intellectual property. Judith is well-versed in performing pre-litigation risk-assessments and counseling on crisis management. Judith has preserved client wins at the appellate level, and also arbitrated complex matters before the American Arbitration Association and Judicial Arbitration Mediation Services.
Judith is recognized by her clients for her nimble, strategic advocacy.
