MATTHEW SCHMITTEN focuses his practice on antitrust litigation and counseling, advising clients on various matters related to mergers and acquisitions, agency investigations, and civil antitrust litigation. He has extensive experience in representing clients across a wide range of industries, including energy, chemicals, consumer products, construction, mineral mining, healthcare, and high technology. Matthew has enjoyed particular success in IP-related antitrust litigation, and the Legal 500 U.S. recognized Matthew for his work within antitrust civil litigation and merger control (2023–2024).
On the non-merger antitrust litigation front, Matthew has won several dismissals at the motion to dismiss and summary judgment stages, and recently defeated class certification in In re caustic soda. He has also assisted in achieving favorable settlements of federal antitrust cases.
