MARIO SAMOS is a senior managing associate in Sidley’s Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure group. Mario’s focus is on the development, financing, acquisition, and sale of energy projects.
Mario’s experience representing energy clients includes the following types of transactions:
- Project developers and private equity firms in connection with wind, solar and natural gas power generation facilities, battery storage projects and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including acquisitions, divestitures, project financings, portfolio financings and tax equity investments.
- Independent power producers, corporate offtakers and financial institutions in connection with offtake arrangements for power generation facilities, including power purchase agreements and commodity hedges.
- Power and gas utilities and underwriters in connection with utility cost-recovery securitizations.
In 2022, Mario was selected by Latino Leaders magazine to the “Latino Lawyers to Keep on the Watch” list.
Mario earned his J.D. from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law, his MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and his B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University. Prior to attending law school, Mario served as an Analyst at the U.S. Department of Justice where he assessed emerging security threats.
