ANILA RAYANI advises international clients on a wide range of data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity matters, including in relation to the General Data Protection Regulation, e-Privacy laws, and more recently, the new EU and UK AI and cyber frameworks.
Anila has assisted clients in investigating and responding to complex cross-border cybersecurity incidents and personal data breaches, and responding to regulatory inquiries. In particular, Anila has experience working with international tech and social media clients on data protection compliance matters.
Prior to Sidley, Anila trained at another international law firm where she gained experience in the commercial, restructuring and insolvency, and insurance practices.

- Representative Matters
Recent experience includes:
- Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in its agreement to acquire AssuredPartners for US$13.45 billion.
- Ryan Specialty in its acquisition of Innovisk.
- Advising a technology client on intra-group data transfers following the completion of an acquisition.
- Advising social media clients on compliance documentation, including non-user privacy policies and incident reporting records.
- Developing process documentation to assist a client with complying with data subject rights.
- Assisting a technology client to understand the existing uses of AI for security purposes within the business to assess compliance with EU regulations.
- Advising a client on the impact of the Network and Information Security Directive (NISD)-2 on the incident reporting process as part of a wider regulatory readiness project.
- Advising a client on the ability to, and privacy obligations when, monitoring employees.
- Assisting with privacy due diligence in support of corporate transactions.
- Investigating a major cross-border cybersecurity incident and assessing reportability under EU and UK laws (including the ePrivacy Directive, EU & UK GDPR, NISD and EECC).
