ASH NAGDEV focuses his practice on data privacy and cybersecurity law. He advises companies on a variety of issues, including those pertaining to the CCPA, COPPA, GLBA, PCI DSS, HIPAA, Unfair and Deceptive Trade practices, state privacy and common law claims, and privacy enforcement in federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission. In addition, he assists companies with data breach management, privacy compliance programs, and cross-border data transfers. Ash has experience in a diverse array of industries, including but not limited to social media, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and technology companies.
Ash has a decade of experience litigating patent, copyright, trade secret, and contract matters in federal and state courts. He is a member of Sidley’s Consumer Privacy Litigation Task Force, a dedicated group of lawyers focusing specifically on consumer litigation and regulatory enforcement actions involving privacy and cybersecurity.
In addition to his counseling and litigation work, Ash advises on privacy and cybersecurity diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
Ash was selected to serve on Law360’s 2023 Cybersecurity & Privacy Editorial Advisory Board, and was named a “Rising Star” in the 2013–2020 editions of Super Lawyers. As a thought leader on emerging domestic privacy law, he regularly blogs and delivers presentations on topics such as novel privacy and cybersecurity issues pertaining to artificial intelligence (AI).
Prior to entering the legal profession, he was a software engineer at Symantec Corporation working on consumer (Norton Security products) and enterprise-level software security products. Ash is a registered United States Patent Attorney and an IAPP-certified information privacy professional in the U.S. (CIPP/U.S.).
