JESSICA LOWE has extensive experience advising asset managers globally and in Europe on the structuring, marketing, fundraising, and operation of their investment funds, with an emphasis on private equity, credit, real estate, and energy. Her experience ranges from advising emerging startup managers on their fund launches to sophisticated global asset management firms on their large flagship funds. Jessica also advises on co-investments, separately managed accounts, sponsors’ carried interest schemes, and associated UK and European regulatory matters.
She also regularly advises institutional investors, including state pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, in connection with their investments in private investment funds. She also represents clients in connection with complex secondary transactions, including continuation funds. Jessica has broad expertise across fund jurisdictions, including the UK, Luxembourg and the Channel Islands.
Prior to joining Sidley, Jessica practiced in the London office of an international law firm. During this time, she spent over 10 months on secondment to a leading private equity firm headquartered in Boston, where she was responsible for handling legal matters relating to the firm’s capital raising activities, including the raising of a US$17 billion private equity fund. Jessica is a former board member of the Queens Crescent Community Association.
Jessica received her LLB in Law, with first class honours, from the Queen Mary University School of Law. While in law school, she supported pro bono cases at the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre and Barnet Law Service, and served as the President of the Queen Mary Badminton Club and the Vice-President of the Association of Chinese and British Students at Queen Mary and Barts and the London. Jessica additionally received the Old Square Chambers Prize for achieving the highest grade in Labour Law, and won the Field Fisher Waterhouse Prize for a paper she wrote about legal issues affecting start-ups and entrepreneurs in the UK and overseas.
