AMY LALLY is a trial lawyer who practices in all areas of litigation, including class actions, false advertising claims, contract disputes, and real estate litigation. She serves as a global co-leader of Sidley’s Consumer Class Actions practice, which is ranked in Chambers USA for 2022 and recognized for its “deep bench noted for its expertise in the life sciences sector, having obtained a number of high-profile defense verdicts in this field.” She has broadly represented the consumer products and services industries in litigation arising under state and federal laws including California’s Proposition 65, Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), and the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA); false advertising and unfair competition laws in California, New York, Illinois, and other states; and the Federal Wiretap Act, TCPA, Lanham Act, and other federal laws, regulations and guidance documents, including the FTC’s Green Guides. Amy is a leading member of Sidley’s California Consumer Privacy Litigation Task Force, a dedicated group of lawyers focused on the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), counseling clients on how to assess and mitigate litigation risks by putting in place the policies, procedures, and protocols that comply with the new laws. Her clients include numerous consumer goods manufacturers and retailers, including vitamin and dietary supplement companies, cosmetic companies, conventional food and beverage companies, pharmaceutical companies, apparel and fashion companies, furniture and home goods companies, and e-commerce companies. Amy has represented a wide variety of other businesses such as financial institutions, hedge funds, accounting firms, and oil and gas companies.
Amy has tried cases to verdict in both state and federal courts across the country. She litigates cases in multiple courts throughout California, including in the counties of Alameda, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Mateo.
Amy also works with clients to assess their product and service offerings, and mitigate litigation risk in connection with strategic growth opportunities. She has significant experience assisting consumer products and services companies in strategic transactions, including HRB Brands, Tata Consumer Products, Naturium, United Airlines, Bodega Latina Corporation, Vegamour, and Carlin Consumer Health, among others.
Amy was recognized by Chambers USA for Food & Beverages: Regulatory & Litigation Nationwide (2024). In 2024, she was ranked on the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Lawyers” list and by Law360 as an “MVP” for Class Action. In 2023 and 2020, Amy was named to the “Women of Influence” list published by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Amy was recognized by AmLaw Litigation Daily as a Litigator of the Week runner-up for two wins for clients in California federal courts, for representing The Container Store Inc. in a Video Privacy Protection Act case, and for representing Golo LLC in consumer claims brought under California’s Sherman Law. She received an AmLaw Litigation Daily Shout-Out honor in July 2022 for securing a win in a dispute spinning out of a US$40 million loan her client, Fortress Investment Group affiliate DBD Credit Funding LLC, secured by The Beverly House, and also in June 2021 for her work defending The Neiman Marcus Group, LLC against a putative privacy class action. She led the Sidley team in defense of a consumer class action that was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the “Top Defense Verdicts” of 2020. Amy was named to Lawdragon’s list of “500 Leading Global Cyber Lawyers” in 2024 and “500 Leading Litigators in America” in 2022. Amy also is an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, teaching trial advocacy.
