Sidley is representing Mercury/13 in its partnership with Avenue Sports Fund through which Avenue Sports Fund has made a significant investment in Mercury/13. In this new partnership, Mercury/13 will continue its mission to build the world's leading multi-club ownership group by acquiring women's football franchises in Europe and accelerating their commercial trajectories. Mercury/13, which first launched in August 2023, has already seen success in its inaugural acquisition of a controlling stake in FC Como Women in Italy’s top division earlier this year.
As part of the partnership with Avenue Sports Fund, a leading global sports investment fund of Avenue Capital Group, former USWNT star Lauren Holiday has joined Mercury/13’s board of directors. Mercury/13 will continue to be led by its co-founders, Victoire Cogevina and Mario Malavé as co-CEOs.
Sidley has represented Mercury/13 since their launch last year. The team was led by partner and co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment, Sports and Media (ESM) group Chuck Baker, and includes senior managing associate Nick DeAngelis, managing associate Dylan Sherwyn, and associate Alyssa Levy (all ESM/M&A and Private Equity).
