Sidley has taken home two awards at the Law.com International Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards 2024. The firm has won the “ESG Initiative of the Year” award for its pro bono partnership with Not Beyond Redemption, and Netanya Clixby has been recognized with the “Rising Star” award. The annual awards celebrate the “top female lawyers who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession this past year.”
Not Beyond Redemption is the only UK charity providing free family law advice and representation to mothers in prison, helping them re-establish contact with their children. The charity operates legal clinics in seven women’s prisons in England and aims to expand to all 12 by 2025. Sidley lawyers staff these pro bono clinics. In the past 12 months, over 45 lawyers in Sidley’s London office have spent over 3,000 hours supporting these vulnerable women, both during and after their prison sentences. Sidley has supported Not Beyond Redemption since June 2021, and the partnership epitomizes the firm’s focus on improving lives under its ESG ethos.
Netanya Clixby, a senior managing associate in the Global Finance practice in Sidley’s London office, has combined her professional focus on derivatives and structured finance with her commitment to advancing workplace inclusion for underrepresented social groups. Netanya is a highly visible role model for diverse individuals in the workplace, consistently promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives, while excelling professionally. Noting the lack of visible bisexual role models in law and professional services, she co-founded the London Bisexual Network in 2016, which works with employers to deliver bi-visibility training. Netanya served on the Law Society’s LGBTQ+ Lawyers Division Committee for four years, advocating for transgender, ethnically diverse, and bisexual representation in the profession. Presently, she serves as a trustee and Head of Income Generation for Open for Business, a global charity that uses financial markets data and research to make the economic case for LGBTQ+ inclusion.
