Sidley partner James Mendenhall has been named to Foreign Investment Watch’s 2022 “Top Advisors” list. The annual supplement lists the top lawyers providing legal advice concerning national security reviews of foreign investments in the U.S. and abroad.
In its commentary on Jim, Foreign Investment Watch lauded him and Sidley policy advisor Grigore Alexandru for being a “seemingly constant source of intelligence.” Both regularly share their insights with the publication, a result of their vast experience with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
Jim concentrates his practice on international arbitration, international trade policy, trade litigation, and proceedings before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He has served as counsel in numerous investor-state arbitration proceedings, including under ICSID and UNCITRAL arbitration rules. Jim advises clients on international trade negotiations, market access issues, intellectual property policy, product standards, trade policy, national security regulations, and U.S. legislative matters. He has represented clients across many sectors, including e-commerce, high-tech, pharmaceuticals, financial services, telecommunications, and consumer goods.
