PAUL SVOBODA is senior counsel in the Chicago office. A focus of Paul’s practice is the representation of not-for-profit and tax-exempt organizations on tax, corporate and related matters. Paul also represents families and individuals on a variety of estate planning and estate administration matters. As a component of this practice, he frequently counsels individuals on structuring charitable gifts, including the use of charitable split-interest trusts and other gifting techniques and gives lectures to the public on gift planning and other charitable issues.
Paul joined the firm in 1990 after working for a New York-based law firm in Paris, France on tax, corporate and arbitration matters. He was recommended in the 2014–2017 editions of The Legal 500 US in the nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations area. He was also recognized in the 2016–2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Trusts and Estates Law.
